Metro Railroad Needs Study

Project Background Information

In cooperation with BNSF, local jurisdictions have considered any aspect about the railroad tracks that would benefit from a planning study and identified existing and future railroad crossing locations for inclusion in this study. The Metro Railroad Needs Study team is currently evaluating locations that were identified in the pre-study phase. Alternatives for improvement will focus on safety, mobility, and community benefits.

Project Objective

The objective of this study is to develop a prioritized list of railroad crossing improvements in the metro area as well as a guide for funding and implementation. Factors contributing to prioritization may include cost-benefit analysis, local considerations, and funding availability.
