Land and Cities
The core of the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area spans approximately 69 square miles and consists of the cities of Fargo and West Fargo, ND, and Moorhead and Dilworth, MN.
        Years of Incorporation:
        Moorhead: September 22, 1871
        Fargo: January 5, 1875
        Dilworth: 1911
        West Fargo: 1947

Climate
The Fargo-Moorhead area receives an average of about 21 inches of rain and 48 inches of snow each year. The average high in January is 16 degrees; July's average high is 82 degrees.

Population
2000 Metropolitan Population: 140,717
2004 Estimated Metropolitan Population: 148,732
At the time of the 2000 U.S. Census, Fargo and West Fargo were the two fastest growing cities in North Dakota, each having grown approximately 22% over the ten year census period.

Transportation
The Fargo-Moorhead area is a reginal hub for transportation and the transfer and distribution of U.S. and international freight. The intersecting of Interstates 29 and 94 in Fargo aid the movement of traffic and ground freight toward the east or west coast, the southern interior or Canada. Major rail yards in both Fargo and Dilworth further enhance the area's freight handling capacity. Travel and air cargo facilities at Hector International Airport round out the area's major transportation and freight handling facilities providing national and international services.

Education Opportunities
Fargo-Moohead is in many ways a "college" town. Both Fargo and Moorhead contain a major state college (North Dakota State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead). These, however, are not aspiring student's only post-secondary options. Fargo-Moorhead also hosts 13 other colleges, private colleges, technical and vocational schools and seminaries.

Fargo-Moorhead has a thriving economy and is the home base or national/international headquarters for several major businesses including:
